1. Disappointing day for men’s four-man bobsleigh teams
It was a heartbreaking day for the third Canadian men’s bobsleigh team. Team members Justin Kripps, Jesse Lumsden, Cody Sorensen and Ben Coakwell walked away unhurt after their sled hit a wall and flipped onto its slide, skidding across the finish line for a last-place finish in the second heat. Canada 2 sits in 10th place going into Sunday’s final heats, and Canada 1 is tied for 13th place.
2. No medal in speedskating
Canada’s Denny Morrison, Lucas Makowsky and Mathieu Giroux vied for the bronze medal in team pursuit. After a strong start, Poland picked up speed on the final laps and won the race. Canada missed the podium by just a few seconds. Read the full story.
3. No medal in parallel slalom
Canada’s Caroline Calve was a favourite to earn a medal in the women’s parallel snowboard slalom but she failed to qualify after finishing 26th overall. Two other Canadians, Marianne Leeson and Ariane Lavigne, did not advance beyond the qualification round.
