The U.S. came off a tough 1-0 loss to Team Canada a day earlier, and seemed to have lost their will to win. The Americans were undefeated in Sochi before the semi-finals, dominating opposing underdog teams like Slovakia and Slovenia.
The Finns lost against Sweden in the semi-finals but shocked the dominant Russian team in the quarter-finals, winning 3-1.
